The Tebtunis papyri provide
intimate details about daily life in a town in Greco–Roman Egypt. They
offer vivid images of all phases of human life, from birth to death, at
home and in public. The challenge in years to come is to merge the
picture that the written documents provide for us with that presented
by the other archaeological material from the site. In
combination, the papyri and the artifacts will furnish a much more
complete picture of life in Egypt under Greek and Roman rule.
